Especially in Asian countries, the relationship between a son and a father often feels distant. The reason may be that the father’s side often puts on airs or simply because that’s how society works. Slowly, I began to process this phenomenon. Through my simple perspective, I tried to compile a simple short story about a father and son who are learning to understand each other.
The feeling of warmness alongside with awkwardness that blends together during their journey creates such a happy feeling for me personally. From the beginning, my relationship with my father felt distant, but lately, our relationship has improved for the better because I moved out for college, and then the distance that has created built up the feeling of closeness.
For that reason, every little moment and small talk felt more precious than before. So, through this short film, I wanted to invite the audience to peek at what my relationship with my father looks like and redefine what family is.
